Preface: I apologize for being so late in posting. I slept late and have been basking in the love of friends and family wishing me happy birthday.
Peter tells believers that God has given us everything we need to live godly lives.
Hmmm. That sorta knocks all our excuses in the head; don’t you think?
“But, I don’t understand scripture.”
You have the Holy Spirit living in you. He wrote the scriptures, He will explain them to you.
“I just can’t love those people.”
God is love. God lives in you. You can let God love through you. You don’t have to do it.
No matter what excuse we come up with for not living a godly life, it all boils down to we are choosing not to. God says through Peter we have ALL we need to live that life, so if we continue to live in ungodly ways, there’s only two possible reasons:
• We are choosing to put ourselves or something/someone above God and above our living a godly life.
• We aren’t really saved, thus we don’t have these resources God is speaking of.
Yeah, that seems harsh, but read the second part of the verse: “We have received all of this by coming to know him, the one who called us to himself by means of his marvelous glory and excellence.”
If we have come to know Him in salvation, we have all the resources we need to live a godly life. It’s up to us to utilize them instead of making excuses.
What a joy to know we don’t have to drag up the will to live a godly life (Philippians 2:13) nor do we have to conjure up the knowledge or the abilities to do so. God does all that!
If we will simply seek Him, we find all that and can live. Truly live.
Are you ready to stop struggling and striving for what seems unattainable? Let’s give it a try today. Let’s let go. Just let it all go. No more pretense of being the good girl or boy. No more trying to live a God-pleasing life in your own power.
Now that you’ve let go, seek God. Utterly, with all your heart, mind, soul, and strength. Allow Him to direct you and you can be amazed at all He does in and through you.
Coffee, Bible, Journal.
