Turtle Rescue
Once I got home from having surgery on my toes and had enough wakefulness to sit in the recliner in the living room rather than recline in the bed, I faced a troubling issue.
I needed to get up to visit the ladies room (which is it’s own different issue). When I sat forward to push the footrest of the recliner down, I found that it would not budge.
Now, picture this. Woman in recliner, right leg in Ace bandage-wrapped cast lifted out of harm’s way. Left foot against footrest to push it down. It balks.
I have little doubt that the picture of me from that moment would look much like a turtle on its back. I know that’s what it felt like!

Fortunately, my husband had pity on me and came to the rescue, using his added pressure to push the footrest down.
Sometimes, I think we get ourselves into situations like this and we know there’s little chance we can get ourselves out of it. That’s when we cry out to God to get us out and He, in His unrelenting love comes to our rescue.
Oh how I long for the time when I stop creating the circumstances He has to rescue me from.
