Pushing Mom
My husband has such a servant heart and has gone for years dreaming about the truck he wanted, instead taking care of others with the money he could have used. Last month we found a truck that fit his dream description.
You can see the smile on his face when he brought it home. He’s been like a kid! He has put off getting himself something for such a long time. The thing is, this truck sits fairly high. You can see by the picture that
Monday he displayed his servant heart again, for my parents. Their car broke down on them. While they weren’t that far from home, it was a bit beyond walking distance for the 79 & 86 year olds. So, Jack helped them get a tow and get a ride home, with the promise that when he got off work he would pick them up to come to our house to get our old truck to use until their car was repaired.
My father has had a hip replaced, but walks every day that he can — upwards of a mile a day. Not bad for an 86-year-old man. He stands about 5’8″ tall and was able to get up into Jack’s new truck without much difficulty, using the step rail and the hand hold.
Mother was another story. She doesn’t have that much strength in her legs, and she’s vertically challenged. She’s closer to the sidewalk than I am and I’m only 5’4″. So, get the picture. The step rail is about at her thighs. She had hold of the hand holds in the truck, but was just not able to propel herself up and into the seat.
Finally, to ease her struggle — though I don’t know if he laughed or not — Jack got behind her and …
… pushed on her ….. ummm …..
Upward.
Forward.
I do so wish someone had been there to video this action. I’m thinking it would have won some money. Instead, I just have to let my mind draw the pictures.
Yeah. I’m giggling.
