Get ‘em, God!
Reading in Jeremiah this morning, I came across this verse:
Let me see your vengeance against them,
for I have committed my cause to you. Jeremiah 20:12
Now, I can relate to that. Jerry’s been telling the people what God’s been saying and no one is listening — but even worse, now instead of just ridiculing him, he’s been tossed in jail overnight. The pressure is on. So, here, he’s asking God to put a whuppin’ on those who persecute him.
But in this second part of verse 12, he’s asking God to let him see that whuppin’ when He does it. Kinda like when someone does something bad to you and you know God will judge them for it, but you’d really, really like to see what He does to them — so your heart can enjoy it? You know, closure. If you could only see it when God punishes them, you’ll have closure.
Yeah. It’s all about you getting closure. Not.
Guess I need to ponder more about what God wants for the people around me than what I do.
