A Personal God
Do you ever wonder if God really cares about you personally? I mean, He's so busy with major things like earthquakes and tsunamis and poverty and slavery and all that stuff. Why would He even bother with your headache or your paltry problem with needing to find a different car or truck?
Let me assure you, God is indeed very personal. Check out Isaiah 22:15-20 for a look-see. Here, God tells Isaiah to take a message to Shebna. Now, Sheb is the palace administrator, the guy with full access to everywhere and everything "king". Apparently, though, he's not paying attention to God, because God has to send Isaiah with the message.
Why is that important?
In the midst of prophecies about nations, God gives Isaiah a task to do involving one man. Personal. One person who needed a message. It wasn't a pretty one, but it was a personal one. You see, Old Sheb had gotten a big ego. He was quite proud of his position. He was using his position to his advantage and even preparing for his future by building up a palace of his own. Granted, it was his tomb, but in a land and culture where that was revered, it was pretty important to set it up on a grand scale. It would tell people for generations what an important guy he was.
God saw that ego grow. I have no doubt He mentioned it to Sheb, who brushed it off as a queasy stomach from something he ate. God didn't quit, though and got personally involved in sending him a message by someone that Sheb couldn't brush aside.
Don't be fooled. Whatever you're doing, God knows and cares personally. Whatever you're thinking and planning, God knows and cares personally. He cares strongly and deeply about it. His interest is in building His kingdom, not yours.
How about taking a few minutes to see if He's got a personal message for you today? It might be the answer to that vehicle problem, or a new job or it might be a message about something you need to change. Either way, it's personal — for you. Listen.
