Fame

Jon Acuff is a man whose words entered my life about a year ago and whom I met earlier this month. I listened to him in a workshop with Anne Jackson and Carlos Whittaker talking about life "Off the Blogs".

One thing that struck me about what Jon said during that time was that he struggled with his feelings of being unwanted/rejected/unliked based on the fame of his blog and other ventures. He said that God spoke into his heart words like these: "I know your name. I love you. I like what you write. I wired you this way. If the Alpha and Omega, the Creator of the Universe knows your name, what other fame can even begin to compare?"

I can remember furiously typing those words, because I didn't want to forget them. But guess what? I did. Not really forgot – they were still there, actually on this blog. But as far as applying them in my life? Umm….oops.

Today, Jon's post nailed me. I hope you get something from it, too. Read it here

Now, you wanna know the funny thing? You went to a conference and heard a man by the name of “Jon Acuff” speak, right? Well, last week, I visited an old friend, and guess what his name was?
    JOHN Acuff.
A very dear old friend, so full of God’s wisdom and grace and humility. And I felt so honored, to be able to sit at his feet once again.
These “Acuff” guys.. pretty cool, ain’t they? :0)
