Oops! He did it again! …Shawn Woods, that is
Shawn Wood has done it again.
Through his weaving of true-to-life stories with biblical truth, Shawn again points us to Christ as the One to worship and adore and the truths that He taught as principles to be so finely integrated into our own lives that they become like oxygen to our lungs.Beginning with the first chapter and these words,
“I was studying the Bible, just minding my own business when a small, innocent, seemingly insignificant, cute little dollop of scripture I had read many, many times before became a concentrated, power-packed, punch-you-in-the-gut, life-altering experience.”
Imagine…reading right along in your Bible, verses that you’ve read time and time again. Imagine being kicked in the gut by the words afresh — literally feeling God tap your shoulder and tell you that this verse is for you. That you’ve not been living that part of what He’s told you.
Now imagine that for every area of your life, including how you react in traffic, at the store, at home.
Using an ongoing real-life story, Shawn introduces each chapter and then challenges the reader to think and contemplate their own life, then do something about it. Make a decision. Move on it. Thing is, while he carefully lays out the depths of the challenge, he doesn’t insist that you jump in the deep end first. He explains the process.
The story of the gospel is forgiveness. The story of our lives is supposed to be forgiveness. Trouble is, until we get that wasabi kick of understanding of what we’ve received in forgiveness, we simply don’t understand it at all.
My challenge to you is that you get the book and read it, then read it again, you’ll miss something the first time — it’s that good. As you read through it, keep in mind the thought Shawn presents throughout, “Which one of these are you?” Then be honest. Get real. Let this book along with the Bible show you the forgiveness you received from Christ and what you should be sharing of the same. You’ll be different. So will others.
