Communications Challenges
Tomorrow, Friday, May 29, 2009, is a big day around here. Kem Meyer, Communications Director at Granger Community Church, is stopping by to visit and share some of her vast experience and wisdom. The really cool thing about that is, YOU can get a whole book full of it to read and keep handy. Described by Jonathan Fallwell of Thomas Road Baptist Church as "…not only a must-read; it is a must-keep-on-the-shelf-close-to-my-desk-forever book!" this book shares proven communication strategies that help build trust instead of walls and help people get your message.
That's it: simple strategies for getting the word out.
With the greatest message ever, we in the church can't afford to screw this up. We have to do anything that hinders getting the message out. As Frank Chiapperino shares, "…you can make every aspect of a person's engagement with your church more rewarding. Packed with short examples nad real-life stores, this book is written for leaders in today's attention-deficit world, making it easy to grab, read and use anytime. When you help clear the path, you help people take their next step toward Christ."
On Friday, Kem will be answering questions on 26 blogs. And one of those stops is right here! (I'm a tiny bit excited!) As a part of the tour, I get to give away a copy of her book!
Oh, you want to know how to win it? Great! Friday morning I'll share with you the sage advice Kem gave me to the question I asked. You just need to post a comment to that post. Tell me what you think the biggest challenges, communications-wise, the church faces. Such as: people never read bulletins, the announcements are too long, I get too many e-mails from the church, making a website that fits everyone is impossible — whatever you think needs to be addressed. You'll have all weekend to think about it and post. On Monday morning at 8:00 a.m., I'll do a random drawing from those comments. I'll contact the winner so that I can mail you your new copy of Less Clutter. Less Noise.
