a new husband

I have a new husband.

Jack's always been a man of compassion and love, with that spark of silliness to boot, but he's different now. He accepted God's call to go someplace he wasn't really looking to go to. He went to Haiti.

He saw garbage-laden streets. He smelled the filth and the sewage. He held the children of Cabaret who have no father or mother. And he learned a new depth of love.

His adventure took him to a pseudo-orphanage housing over 125 children aged 8 months and up. He saw the older children help the younger. He saw the simplest of instructions immediately obeyed and he handed plates — actually Frisbees — of food to children happy to be getting, again, their portion of rice for that day. That's right, I said "day."

So now, my husband sees differently. His love, even for me, is deeper than ever before. And his compassion is overflowing.

I have a new husband.

  1. Faye, I tried posting once here, and it didn’t take (or at least I don’t think it did). Wow, a new husband. I’m sure he will feel the effects of this trip for a long time, a very long time. God bless you both as you discern His direction from here!

  2. Hey Michelle! I think I’ve gotten all your posts. I usually get an email when someone posts a comment.
Yeah, like I said, he’s always been super conscious of the world around him, but even more so now. I just talked to him on the phone where he asked me to check on a camera for him to take “next time” — one he can stick in his pocket easier.
