In reading chapters 22 & 23 in 2 Kings, I’m seeing the need for the national leader to have a real grasp on what God has said in regards to that nation. In this case, it was God’s nation, Judah. The previous leaders had thumbed their noses at God and now the young king, Josiah, after having found the word of God — that had been all but lost (or destroyed) — realized the import of the words he read and acted upon them.
He first got himself right with God, then he went about showing the nation how and why they needed to do the same, even seeing to the cleaning up and getting rid of the things that had brought God’s wrath.
The thing is, what’s that mean today? What could the President of the United States do that is a shadow of what King Josiah did? How would that look in 2008, in the U.S.? Any ideas?
